The best thing teen fisherman TJ Abraham caught this year wasn’t a fish, but a great idea for his Eagle Scout project.
TJ Abraham, a sophomore at West Bend East High School, built a shed at Ackerman’s Grove County Park for his Eagle Scout project. A Facebook post congratulating TJ on his great work was posted Sept. 17 by Washington County Parks & Trails. He is part of Scout Troop 762 in West Bend.
The shed will be a new home for a boat washing station near the boat trailer parking area. This will help fight aquatic invasive species. Abraham’s project was made possible with sponsors like the Washington County Parks Department, Cedar Lake Sales and several other private donors.
Abraham joined Scouts in the first grade because many people in his family were also in Scouts. He chose to build the shed in this particular park because he lives near there and wanted to help his community.
Abraham wanted to build this shed because he spends a lot of time at Ackerman’s Grove County Park to go fishing and wants to keep the environment safe.
“I hope the shed brings more people to the park, and hope fellow fishermen actually use it and start to care more about the environment and safety of the park,” Abraham said.
