New Silver Lining Arts Center Kicks Off with Wisconsin Indie Pop

Peter Thomas, cellist with the Milwaukee rock band I’m Not a Pilot, visited WBHS orchestra students on March 17. I’m Not a Pilot will perform at the grand opening of the Silver Lining Arts Center.

If you have seen the high school of late you have probably noticed the renovation near the auditorium.

West Bend High School Athletes for the Arts welcomes you to the grand opening of the new Silver Lining Arts Center on Wednesday, April 15 at 7:30 p.m. Award-winning Milwaukee rock band I’m Not a Pilot will headline the performance, and members from the high school orchestra and band will join them for several songs. Is Merging in Stier’s Game Plan?

Scott Stier, the West athletic director, doesn’t have a definite opinion on whether or not the school board should combine the high schools.

Since he was a student from 1986-1990 and played football, baseball, and basketball, and later served as a coach, it’s clear that West Bend sports have been a major part of Stier’s life for a very long time. He brings a unique and knowledgeable perspective to the question: What will happen to the sports teams if the schools combine? Continue reading

Touring the New Police Department

The West Bend Police Department is always there to protect the city.  Now, it’s the taxpayers’ turn to protect and serve.

After 2.5 years of planning, the West Bend Police Department finally got a much needed upgrade starting in October 2012 and ending in October 2013. Residents were invited on April 26 to see taxpayer money at work. Tours were given to show West Bend citizens the new space, technology and conveniences now readily available for officers. E-Smokin’ in the Boys Room

Students reminded that electronic cigarettes are not permitted

Technology has brought a long list of new things that have to be regulated by the office, but only one of them is illegal.

On March 7, students’ eyebrows lifted at a strange announcement from school administration that addressed the increased usage of e-cigarettes in school hallways, classrooms, and buses. Students were reminded that e-cigarettes are treated by the office and the police as a tobacco product. Continue reading
