Did someone say diamond?

This year, the Dolphins, the synchronized swim team at the West Bend High Schools, is celebrating its 60th anniversary. The theme for the show is The Diamond Edition. The show opens this week, with 7 p.m. performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday inside the WBHS natatorium. There will also be a 1 p.m. show on Saturday. Tickets can be bought here.

The team is led by head coach Bridget Pfeil and assistant Leslie Russo.

“The team started practicing in February and now everything will come together this week,” Pfeil said. “I am looking forward to all the different aspects of the team working together from the athletes to the lighting and sound crew and the emcees all running through the show together this week.”

For the first time, the Dolphins show will include an alumni routine. That segment will be part of the Friday and Saturday performances.

“It almost felt like Christmas Eve last night, I could hardly sleep,” Russo said. “This year is really special with it being the 60th anniversary and I’m really proud of how far they’ve come in the last three months. Now it’s the Dolphins’ time to shine and show their family and friends all the hard work they’ve been putting in. We can’t wait for everyone to come out and cheer the Dolphins on!”

The president this year is West senior Lacee Justman, who has been on the team since her ninth grade year.

“I am feeling super excited about all the shows,” Justman said. “I am most looking forward to showing off all the hard work our team has put into the season.”
